I was inspired by Nic Collins’ circuit sculpture In Memoriam, but I wanted to capture the entire arc of a fast burning candle. I made my own circuit which is tuned to react to the flame of a 5-minute candle. In darkness, it is silent. When the candle is lit, the circuit plays music which changes as the candle burns. The first version was built on prototyping board, but I have since made several revisions to the circuit and printed the circuit boards professionally. The last version was all triangle waves!
